UK Made Baby Bodysuits Arrived Today!

Picture of Huddle & Bliss Organic BodysuitsI’ve just received our order of organic cotton baby bodysuits from Huddle & Bliss this morning! They are all made in England from 100% GOTS certified organic cotton.

We ordered three newborn and three 0-3 months but Huddle & Bliss kindly sent an extra complimentary 0-3 month bodysuit because they had run out of white (our original colour request) and had to send us the cream ones instead.

The newborn bodysuits do look very small but our baby is on track to be around 7.5lbs when she is born so hopefully they’ll fit!

30 Weeks Today!

Picture of 4D Scan PhotoI’m 30 weeks pregnant today!

Only 10 weeks to go or less if she decides to come early!

So much to do and so little time left!

This is a photo of the 4D scan we had done at 25 weeks and she looks like she’s very happy in there!

More Baby Products to Buy!

I realised time is moving on and we still have a lot to buy! So I spent Saturday trying to source online the rest of the baby items we need from suppliers and makers that manufacture in the UK.

Picture of Hooded Baby TowelI found Huddle & Bliss sell a 100% pure cotton white Hooded Baby Towel (£16) made in England and it can be customised with the baby’s name for an extra £8.

They also sell a 3 pack of 100% pure cotton white baby bodysuits (£17) made in England.

I think we’ll need 2 of these packs!

Picture of Mix & Match Baby BibsI’m very tempted to buy their UK made 100% cotton pack of 3 baby bibs (£8.50) Picture of Baby Swaddling Blanketsand their pack of 2 baby swaddling blankets (£19) too!

We still need 4 more baby sleepsuits and Huddle & Bliss sell a mix and match 3 pack in pink, pink check and white (£22) made in the UK.

I do love the Organics for Kids sleepsuits and rompers though! They are gorgeous pink stripes, butterflies or spots and made in the UK from fair trade 100% organic cotton. They are expensive but last 5 months instead of 3! The baby sleepsuits and rompers below are £16.70, £18.20, £17.00 and £17.20.

My Mum Knitted…

Picture of Knitted Baby Cardigan, Hat and Mitten SetMy very talented Mum has knitted this lovely pink baby cardigan, baby hat and scratch mittens for us and also gave us a crochet baby blanket too.

I just can’t wait to see our daughter in this set with the gorgeous pink and white flowers!

Her next project is a lovely navy nautical baby cardigan with a white stripe around the collar and front.

Handmade Baby Dungarees!

Picture of Baby DungareesI’ve made some progress on my next sewing project; the baby dungarees! I managed to zig zag stitch around a flower shape in dark red gingham fabric on the top part – admittedly not very neatly but from a distance it looks okay!

I also managed to sew around the bottom of the legs incorporating the extra thick seam for the poppers. I’ve just got to machine the top part, create the slight gathering on the waist of the trousers and attach the two together. I say “just” but it’ll probably take me another couple of Wednesday afternoons to do this!

I was hoping it would only take me 3 weeks to make but it looks like it might be 4! I am going to try to sew on all the poppers one evening so that the bottoms of the trousers are finished.

If I’m feeling brave I might have a go at machine sewing the seams on the top part but don’t hold your breath!

A Good Night’s Sleep!

I’ve been awake since 4.20am due to hip pain of sleeping on my sides (recommended when pregnant)! Evidently it’s a common problem due to hormones softening bones ready for labour! So I thought seeing as I’m up I’ll add a post about mattresses!

To be honest it seems very hard to decide on the best cot bed mattress to buy. There are so many options and types of mattress that it’s hard to determine which to select. I think a pocket sprung mattress sounds good and something hypoallergenic. Having a washable cover also sounds like a good idea but apart from that who knows what other features are essential?!

Picture of Mothercare MattressOn one of my trips around Mothercare I happened to notice some mattresses and more importantly a label on one of them saying “Made in England“. So I noted the name and looked it up in their catalogue and found it was their Luxury Pocket Sprung Mattress.

  • Individual pocket sprung provide superior support for your baby’s back, neck and head
  • Removable machine washable cover containing Spacetec and COOLMAX reduces over-heating
  • Silver ions in COOLMAX freshFX help prevent bacterial and fungal growth
  • Wipeable, waterproof layer

It seems to have everything and more for £15o!

Gorgeous Pink Hat!

The Little Clothes Horse LogoToday I went into our local independent children’s clothing shop in Kenilworth, The Little Clothes Horse, to check out their babywear.

They have some lovely ranges of baby clothes and I was delighted to find this gorgeous pink hat made of 100% cotton and made in England – so I bought it!

I met the owner of the shop, Karen, who was extremely helpful in talking me through the brands and where the clothes were made. Many of the clothing brands were British companies designing in the UK but then manufacturing abroad. But there were other children’s products such as kids cooking aprons and canvas pictures that were made locally, available in the shop to buy.
